Exploring the Art of Coffee: From Beans to Brews and Perfect Pairings

Posted in Food

"It's almost worse than giving up a lover”, said Sandra Bullock about giving up coffee. More than a mere beverage, coffee holds a unique place in our lives. It's that moment of calm during a crazy day, or that boost we need in the morning.

For all you coffee fans out there, choosing the right cup can be a bit of an adventure. It's not just about getting a caffeine fix. There are lots of options to choose from, from strong espresso-based drinks to ones with milky foam on top. Don't worry, we're here to guide you through different types of coffee, flavours, and even what foods go best with them. Let's get started!

Understanding Coffee Flavours:

Before we dive in, let's talk about the different flavours that coffee can have. Just like how different foods taste different, coffee beans can have all sorts of flavours. It depends on where they come from, how they're roasted, and how they're made. They can taste fruity, flowery, spicy, sweet, nutty, chocolatey, and even a bit like caramel or tobacco. There are two main kinds of coffee beans: Arabica and Robusta.

Arabica: These beans are known for their sweeter taste. Our own Arabica Coffee from Myanmar has this kind of flavour.

Robusta: These beans are a bit more bitter and have more caffeine.

Trying Different Coffee Types and Good Matches

When you go to a coffee shop, you'll find lots of different types of coffee to try. Let's look at a few that people really like, along with what foods go well with them.Espresso: This is a super strong coffee that's used in many other coffee drinks. If you like strong flavours, espresso is your friend. You can drink it by itself or after a meal. Some people like to pair a cup of espresso with fruits like berries, and some people like to drink it with chocolate.

Americano: It's like coffee mixed with hot water. If you like simple, strong flavours, this one's for you. It goes great with buttery pastries like croissants or chicken puffs for a yummy breakfast.

Latte: This is a good choice if you're new to coffee. It has lots of milk, so it's not too strong. It's nice with a light breakfast or a snack. Try it with fruity things like banana cake or puddings.

Cappuccino: This coffee has a lot of milk foam on top. It's smaller but still strong. Sometimes, it has a bit of cinnamon or cocoa on top.

Mocha: If you love chocolate, you'll love mocha. It's like mixing hot chocolate with coffee. It's perfect with sweet treats like cookies or brownies. You can also pair it with traditional Myanmar desserts.

Whether you're a big coffee fan or just starting to explore, don't be afraid to try different kinds and mix them with different foods. There are lots of coffee brands to try, and you can find what you need at your nearby  supermarket. Enjoy your sips!
