Popular Thai food, Khou Kha Mu

Posted in Thai Cuisines

Wouldn't it be nice to eat something that tastes good anywhere, especially if you're eating something that you can cook yourself?

This time, Khou Kha Mu (braised pork leg), one of the most popular Street Foods in the Bangkok Night Market, describes how this Thailand's traditional dish of pork is prepared to be soft and tender without losing its traditional life.

Ingredients

  • Pork Leg
  • Soy Sauce, Oyster Sauce, Chicken Powder
  • Cinnamon, Star anise, Pepper, Garlic
  • Egg, Mushroom, Bok Choy, Pickled Mustard Greens, Coriander Root, Ginger

Cooking Steps:

  • First, let's boil the eggs.
  • Next, we'll fry the pork leg over low heat until it changes color and the surface becomes nice and crispy.
  • Now, let's melt some sugar over low heat until it turns a lovely golden brown.
  • Once the sugar has caramelized, we'll fry the pork leg again with coriander root and ginger. Feel free to add any other spices and seasonings you enjoy.
  • For the flavor, let's stir in 2 teaspoons of soy sauce, 3 teaspoons of oyster sauce, and 1 teaspoon of chicken powder.
  • Now add some water and let it simmer for 3-4 hours, until the pork becomes nice and tender.
  • When the pork is fork-tender, we'll toss in the boiled eggs, mushrooms, and pickled mustard greens. Let that heat through for about 10 minutes. Finally, add in some bok choy.
  • After slicing and plating the meat, you can serve this delicious steamed pork leg over a bed of rice. I'm sure your whole family will love digging into this wonderful dish! It's a great way for the home cooks out there to showcase their skills on the weekend.
